Norwegian Numbers & Quantities Vocabulary

Numbers and quantities show up everywhere in everyday Norwegian: prices, ages, weights, temperatures, phone numbers and simple arithmetic. This themed list gathers frequently used Norwegian words for numbers and quantities, each with its English translation, grammatical gender and an example sentence, so you see the words doing real work in a sentence rather than sitting alone on a flashcard.

Vocab Voyage turns the list into spaced-repetition flashcards: you get an English prompt and type the Norwegian word yourself, with accents forgiven, so the vocabulary moves from recognition into active recall. Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between telle and regne?

Both are translated 'to count', but telle is used for counting items one at a time, while regne leans toward calculating or working out a number. Compare the example sentence for each to see the pattern in context.

Why does this list include three different words for 'number'?

Norwegian distinguishes tall (a digit or figure), nummer (a number used as a label, such as a phone number) and antall (a count of how many things there are). Learning them side by side with their example sentences makes the distinction concrete instead of abstract.
